This thesis is an introduction of representation on reflective sundials in the 17th century which has multiple layers of information from history to astronomy by applying representation methodology. The survey is about the magnificent sundial clock located at Lycée Stendhal in Grenoble, dating from 1673. The sun clock at Grenoble is a testament to the technological advances of the 17th century. This clock is built in fresco and covers 100m2 of wall and ceiling space. Its creator - Jesuit Father Jean Bonfa and his student had compressed many data into this fresco, including history, mathematics, astronomy, and geography.
The purpose of this paper is to present all the information about the building in a visual way so readers can get a better understanding of it. Three parts of the research will be explored: the first looks at the historical value and basic principles of astronomy and sundials. In the second part, we apply the representation method to analyze the system behind this famous reflection sundials. The third part focuses on the possibility of using digital technology to present all the information graphically to improve the experience of visitors with this historical staircase. In the end, we plan to create a digital tool to teach and present about this room.
