The school is named following the name of the largest artificial lake in Ghana, evenly in the world. It is called the Volta School in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Historically, this lake was an area with abundant elements of nature in Ghana.
In this nation, the lake or the schools have many distinct impacts on people's lives. For them, schools are critical to developing Ghana's education, personality, and economy. Thus, the Volta school for 12–18-year students in Abetenim is a meaningful project bringing knowledge and a new life to the local people here under the auspices of the Nka Foundation.
The building typology for this project focuses on the classroom. There are 13 classroom units on the property, alternately structured with the natural vegetation. Each unit contains two classes in which each type has a capacity of 42 pupils. The principal scheme for the master plan is to leave respect for the current natural conditions of the site entirely. Specifically, two vast patches of palm trees will keep the overall environment calm and relaxed. Besides, the domestic walkways are mainly held to become the central circulation for the users. As a result, the area of greenery in the center of the land serves as the school's central courtyard for all students and employees. All classrooms and the buildings of public facilities are arranged under careful consideration of the wind environment. This is to satisfy a maximum of air movement through all constructions.
